Graham Road Elementary School

McLean Baptist Church offers support to the students, faculty and staff of Graham Road Elementary through various projects, including adopting families at the holidays, providing school supplies, assisting in classrooms, collecting box tops for education, contributing to eye care assistance, donating to the community clothes closet and giving gifts for teacher/staff appreciation. GRES students have performed for McLean Baptist Church's ESL students. This partnership also assists with the relationship between GRES and Chande School located in Kitwe, Zambia.

Power Pack Program (P3)

Most Sunday mornings from 9:15 to 9:45 a.m. during the school year, a group of 10 or more members of McLean Baptist Church gather to put together weekend food packs for roughly 98 children at Graham Road Elementary School. The church is an official partner with Graham Roads and has supported a variety of school projects as well as the teachers for several years now. This is the third year Community Missions has joined forces with Food for Others to be the Power Pack Program sponsor for Graham Road. We started with 45 packs, went to 102 and are currently providing 98 kits per week during the regular school year. Each kit consists of two breakfast, two lunches and two dinner items, two drinks, and two snacks that must fit into a gallon-size Ziplock bag. Once the kits are packed on Sunday, additional volunteers deliver them to Graham Road for distribution on Fridays, so that the kids have something to eat when not at school. Volunteers also purchase some of the food items each week and also help breakdown and recycle all the food packaging.
